Lara Zeidan is a Lebanese/Canadian filmmaker based between London and Beirut.
After pursuing an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design at the American University of Beirut, she decided to translate her acquired skills into filmmaking. In 2015, she enrolled at the London Film School, MA in Filmmaking course, where she developed her skills as a writer/director.
Her graduation film "Three Centimetres" had its world premiere at Berlinale 2018, where it won the Teddy Award for Best Short Film. Since then, it has screened at over 100 festivals around the world and has won numerous awards including the Iris Prize, which secured her £30K funding for her latest experimental short film “A Beautiful Form to See”, starring Alicia Agneson from “Vikings”.
Lara was a jury member for the Live Action competition at Encounters Film Festival in 2019 and for the International Shorts’ competition at the Iris Prize Festival in 2019 and 2020.
She is currently developing her first feature film “BIRTHDAY” with the support of the Mediterranean Film Institute’s Script 2 Film Workshop.
She is a Berlinale Talents 2019 directing alumna and a Reelworld 2020 Emerging20 participant.
